Beetle Drive

What a fun evening we all had last night, rolling dice as quickly as we could so that we would be the first to complete a beetle! 

Thank you to everyone who came along. Thank you to everyone who brought Easter eggs as prizes and to the RSA members who organised the event and cooked delicious food. A special thanks go to Mr and Mrs Gabriel who ran the event and kept us all entertained.

Paisley hears readers in Cygnus class

Paisley enjoyed listening to Hollie, Khali, Rufus and Corban read this morning.
She also liked the treat that they gave her and all the cuddles. She is looking forward to hearing them next week too.

Paisley, our Pets As Therapy dog, came in to listen to Great Bear class readers. All the children read exceptionally well and Paisley loved listening to them. (The treat at the end probably helped too!!)

Buster's pinhole camera

The year 6 children have been making pinhole cameras as part of their learning about light. Buster made a small one that really looks like a modern camera.

Raising money for the library

Some of our year 6 girls have been selling cakes, toys and books to raise money to buy bean bags for the library. 

In two days they have raised over £33.

Finley's Big Write

Today Finley wrote and wrote and wrote. He has worked incredibly hard to write a story about what happened when he went through a magic door. Great work Finley. 

Music Evening

What a talented group of children we have at Rowde.

During our annual music evening last night we were treated to over an hour of tuneful melodies from children playing flutes, recorders, guitars, clarinet, piano, keyboard and vocals. 

It was a delight to listen to. What a lovely way to spend an evening. 

Well done everyone who performed, whether as a solo or in a group.

Chocolatey science!

Maddie and Camilla carried out an experiment to see if they could melt chocolate and then turn it back into solid chocolate. 

After they had melted the chocolate they put it in the freezer. When it was solid again they ate it!

Charlie Saves the Whales

Charlie decided to make a poster to save his favourite animal. 

Tuesday learning together

Thank you to parents and grand parents who joined us this week to learn together. It is lovely to see the school so full of people and to observe the collaborative learning taking place. 

Lara loves learning

Lara in Cygnus class has done some fabulous investigating at home. She weighed her toys and put them in order of lightest to heaviest. Then she recorded her work in a book.

My Science Fair

MLots of the scientists who displayed their experiments on Sunday have brought their work into school. I was so amazed at the effort you all out in. Your scientific thinking has really benefitted from the projects you have worked on. 

Max created a black hole.

Faye grew bacteria and discovered it is everywhere! 

Ben was investigating moulds. (It put me off my sandwiches!)

Kiah set up an investigation to find out if sound alters in different depths of water. 

Evie in year 2 was trying to mix the unmissable. 

All the experiments were original, well presented and a real joy to see.

My Science Fair

This Sunday, some of our children went to the Bradford On Avon music center to showcase the science experiments that they have been working on. I am delighted to say that Zoe Elsden and Izzy Seavers won the year 3 competition.

The girls planned and led a very informative assembly with the theme of Generosity. We were able to reflect on what generous means after we heard a story read by Jo.
